Constance Mallette named vice chancellor for Finance and Administration

Constance Mallette has been named vice chancellor for Finance and Administration at Winston-Salem State University. 

As vice chancellor and chief financial officer (CFO), Mallette has administrative oversight for Financial Planning and Budget, Financial Services, Business and Auxiliary Services, and Facilities Management. 

Since 2015, Mallette, a native of Wilmington, North Carolina, had served as the associate vice chancellor for Finance and Administration at WSSU. In this role, she provided leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of financial planning, reporting, and operational analysis for senior management while promoting operational efficiencies through various technology initiatives.

Previously, Mallette served in various financial management roles at multiple University of North Carolina institutions, including serving as the Assistant Vice President-Finance for the University of North Carolina System.

“Constance is a visionary leader and a welcome addition to my executive team,” said WSSU Chancellor Elwood L. Robinson. “Her strong business acumen and 31 years of experience in higher education make her an incredible asset to WSSU.”

Mallette earned her bachelor’s degree in finance from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University and a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from WSSU. Additionally, she holds certifications as Chief Information Officer and Public Manager. She has served in a variety of leadership roles within Leadership Winston-Salem, the Women’s Fund of Winston-Salem, Bridges Academic Leadership, and the State Employees Credit Union Advisory Board.

Mallette succeeds Dr. Randy W. Mills, who retired at the end of December.
